CHICAGO: riot preparations for cops?

Riot Preparations?
-
Despite the issue receiving national media attention, Obama supporters continue to threaten to riot if Mitt Romney wins the presidential election, raising the prospect of civil unrest if Obama fails to secure a second term.
The new threats continue to dominate Twitter and the vast majority make no reference to press coverage of the issue over the last week, illustrating the fact that they are a legitimate expression of how many Obama voters plan to respond if Romney comes out on top, and not merely a reaction to media hype.
UPDATE: Some people have problems with the source - infowars.com. Maybe this one will make them happier:
- The threats have gone viral on Twitter, with Obama supporters retweeting and pledging their arms to riot in the streets if he is not reelected. The volume of viral traffic on the network suggests the threat is genuine.
Multiple media outlets have picked up this story and are bringing the topic to national attention. The Obama administration, which we would hope would move to quell the threat, will at best make a late-coming, half-hearted plea for people to stay home rather than destroy their own neighborhoods, if they say anything at all.

(Phone) Call to Action: DISMISS ALL NATO5 CHARGES
On June 20, a month will have passed since Mayor 1% Emanuel and his cronies brought NATO to Chicago and subsequently caged five of our peaceful comrades. Brent, Jay, Jacob, Mark and Sebastian are still incarcerated on informant-created charges in order to justify the abject waste of taxpayer dollars on security for that war machine. Now is our chance to tell them that we haven’t forgotten.
The case against the NATO5 is flimsy and only served to pattern a narrative to deter socially-conscious people from leaving their homes. We have seen this pattern of police repression and state intimidation in cases such as Cleveland5, RNC 8, FBI raids on activists in Chicago. This pattern will continue unless we do take action to stop it.
Now is our time to tell RAHM, ANITA & GARRY to

FIVE!
USE YOUR VOICE against Mayor 1% Rahm Emanuel, the man who brought the NATO war machine to Chicago, and sicked his attack dog Garry McCarthy on the sea of peaceful protesters, singling out the NATO5 for rumored harassment, entrapment, and a frame-up.

#occupyEverywhere (Phone) Call to Action:
Mayor 1% Rahm Emanuel is closing half of Chicago’s mental health clinics, including Woodlawn Mental Health Clinic, 6337 S Woodlawn. Mayor 1% has money in his budget for NATO preparations, flowers in the park, and the walking trail along the lakeshore but not for people in need of mental health services. Mental Health Movement with Stop Chicago and support from Occupy Chicago have taken a stand against Mayor 1%’s austerity. They had barricaded themselves inside the closed clinic until their arrest on April 12. Since April 14, they all have established a 24-hour camp occupation across the street until this morning, April 17 when police evicted protesters.

PRESS RELEASE from Occupy Chicago: COME OCCUPY!
Mental Health Clinic Facing Closure Occupied by Patients and Advocates Mental Health Movement barricaded inside Woodlawn Clinic until Rahm Emanuel backs off clinic closures!
Dozens of people who use Chicago’s mental health clinics along with other advocates have barricaded themselves into the Woodlawn Clinic at 6337 S. Woodlawn, one of 6 clinics… facing closure. They intend to remain there until Mayor Emanuel agrees to keep all of Chicago’s public clinics open, fully funded and fully staffed.
Two of the clinics slated for closure - the Northwest Clinic in Logan Square and the Northtown Clinic in Rogers Park - shut their doors last Friday. Four others (Woodlawn, Auburn/Gresham, Back of the Yards and Beverly/Morgan Park) are scheduled to close April 30th. The Mental Health Movement, which put out a report and a video undermining the Chicago Department of Public Health’s claim that all patients will continue to receive care, has been calling for hearings on the clinic closures since October. Despite repeated promises and a resolution calling for hearings, the Emanuel Administration has prevented any hearings from taking place in order to avoid public scrutiny of the plan, which has come under fire even from Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart.
“We have tried everything we could to be heard. We visited Mayor Emanuel when he was a candidate. We delivered him over 4,000 letters. We have talked to almost all 50 Alderman. We have held press conferences, rallies and even sat-in for 10 hours on the 5th floor of City Hall. We are the ones who know the disaster these clinic closures will mean for our communities and our city but Mayor Emanuel been unwilling to listen to us, so we are taking drastic measures to avoid a tragedy and defend our human rights,” says N’Dana Carter, who goes to one of the city clinics and is a spokesperson for the Mental Health Movement.
The people barricaded in the clinic have enough food and supplies to stay for months and are threatening to do so unless Mayor Emanuel meets the following five demands:
-Keep all 12 city mental health clinics public, open, fully funded and fully staffed
-Stop plans to privatize Chicago’s 7 neighborhood health centers
-Hire more doctors, therapists, nurses, social workers and other clinic staff
-Reinstate the drug assistance program
-Expand the public mental health safety net to cover unmet community needs
